Celebrated Contemporary Chinese Dance Company
Special Discount Offer - 20% Off!
Thursday, April 10 at 8pm
Bass Concert Hall at UT Austin
Distinctive for startling originality, Shen Wei's choreography
has been hailed as "something to write home about"
by The New York Times. A gifted choreographer, dancer
and painter from Hunan, China, Shen Wei fuses dance,
theater, Chinese opera, painting and sculpture into
rich, multi-layered creations that conjure up a dreamlike
universe. The company will perform Rite of Spring (Part
1), set to the four-hand piano version of the famous
score, as well as Folding, a 40-minute work that links
original music of Tibetan Mahakala Buddhism with the
soft melodies of John Taverner's Last Sleep of the Virgin.
"The visual and emotional impact is overwhelming...This
"Rite of Spring" dazzles." -- The New
York Times.
